The history of the Toronto Islands includes first nations camps, a military post, a fishing community, violent storms, shipwrecks, hotels, amusement parks, the growth of a cottage community into a year round residential community, the demolition of island homes to create a park, and the fight back against those demolition to save island homes. The Walking Tour of Toronto Islands is available on Saturdays, and the Bicycle Tour of the Toronto Islands is available on Sundays. However groups can schedule these tours at times they find more convenient.

For more information click here.

THE HUMBER RIVER WALKING TOUR

The Humber was once an important transportation, used by many native nations and look at how they were brought into trade wars once the French, Dutch and British arrived. This tour will visit the site of a Seneca village that was burned down by a French army and replaced it with a fort, see how a series of mills were built in the area, and how they were replaced with residential developments. It will also look at the devastating effects of Hurricane Hazel, and the efforts to restore nature in the area since then. The tour will cover the history of the Humber River and also use it as a tool to tell the history of the whole city from long before Europeans arrived in the area to the present day.
This tour is still a work in progress and will be part of our Tuesday work in progress series.
 For more information click here.

TUESDAY WORK IN PROGRESS SERIES

Out Tuesday Programming is a chance to watch and give feed back on works in progress including tours, lectures, and storytelling.
